The mighty druid Merlin has been sleeping under the stonehenge monument for thousands of years. But the war woke him up, and since he cannot find the legendary king Aryhur, he gets Corto Maltese to fill in for him.

Corto is on a secret mission to find the legendary treasure of Alexander the Great, He must find the Guilded House of Samarkand. In Turkey Corto discovers he has a doppelganger - the rebel leader Chef Ket.
