| In the theocracy of Simulacrum Kyuukoku, everyone is born female. At age 17, each citizen undergoes a special ceremony in which she chooses a sex. However, only priestesses who have yet to choose can pilot the ancient Simoun aircraft against neighboring countries that covet the technology. These young girls, the Simoun sibyllae, are granted special dispensation from their cultural obligations, though their prayers are at odds with the battles they are ordered to fight in. As the cacophony of war tears at their ranks, they struggle to hang on to the one thing transcending time and space that ties them together. |
