| Capitaes de Abril (April Captains) is a tour-de-force for actor/director Maria de Medeiros (she portrayed Fabienne, Bruce Willis' girlfriend in "Pulp Fiction"), who both stars in and directs this historical drama. In Portugal, on the night of April 24, 1974 and into the early morning hours of the 25th, a Portuguese radio station aired a banned song: "Grandola". It could have just been an act of insubordination by a rebellious journalist, but in fact, it was much more than that. It was a pre-planned signal, triggering a military coup that was to change the face of the country as well as the destiny of vast territories in Africa. |
