Plot
Sense and Sensibility is a critically acclaimed adaptation of the Jane Austen novel, starring Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet. The movie concerns wild Marianne (Winslet) and her more conservative sister, Elinor. The question that is posed as whether having good sense and compassion for others, like the proper Elinor or having a sensibilty like Marianne who feels and experiences spontaneity and passion. It was a changing time where neoclassicism was giving way to romanticism and this is another underlying theme the ladies represent. While this is one of Austen's first and lesser works, you would not realize that by the lush cinematography, the excellent casting choices, and the top drawer performances.
